How can you call people who dislike the landscapes in the video blind...if you haven't watched the video?
That said, I like the desert areas...bit sparse of course, but hey, they're deserts. The architecture does look sexy.

They are blind if they saw it and didn't like it. The landscapes are beautiful...aside from the Desert, where they manage to reuse the foliage....again.

Great footage, and amazing visuals! I really enjoyed the city with a fountain and blue rivers, remind me of LA but alot more colourful. Looks like a more cheerful atmosphere imo, compared to dark and almost depressing look of factions.

I remember being thrilled with the first in-game cinematic of Factions. The monsters and landscapes were awesome.
Here's my reaction after seeing this one : "...and?"
Yeah, couple of good landscapes and awesome visuals, but, nothing to increase my heartbeat. Same old, same old. I especially did not care for the monster designs.
I hope there are more up their sleeves that did not make it to this movie. Awaiting PvE weekend now.

How hard I try to not love Guild Wars... it always fails. The trailer is beautifull... as always.
Though my only minor... uhm... drawback involves the Paragon. When he/she throws his spear, it just respawns in it's hand. Could've been done better imho.

This has to be THE most amazing looking GW chapter thus far, and arguably the best looking area will probably be in this game.
I'm amazed, they're really going to town with this chapter, hopefully it will play at least half as good as the way it looks.

Finally A Preview
What do you think about the winged creatures and that giant giant thing in the cinematic.
Looks very good and pretty interesting.
If you haven't seen the Cinematic

It looks great to see this in hi-res. the environments are very nice, especially the towns, of course. But I don't know why you guys complain so much about the environments in factions; I found them A LOT more interesting than the stuff in tyria. The non-slum parts of kaineng look great, and the jade sea is the coolest environment ever in an RPG, imo.

That armor was a regular armor (fire resistant, if i'm not mistaken) in the PvP preview weekend, it's not 15K.

I think it looks great... Emperor Kisu shown in the begining has obvious ties to Cantha, but how will they tie it into prophicies? I can't say anything about armor or weapons since it a bit to soon to oogle over those details. I love the cascading *lettering* in the curtains :P

yea, it ranks up with the hovering towers and the birdfaced windmill as my favorite moments of that trailer. those are as nice as kaineng and the great northern wall (the jade sea still beats em easily, tho); someone should really give the anet art direction team a prize.

If you look at where the emperor is...he's on the docks.
He probably is the point of contact to travel between Elonia and Cantha...nothing more.
Regarding the chaos wing dude not using his bow...
think about this...maybe he was a boss using a touch ranger build and all of the bosses in Elonia will use common/popular player builds instead of 3 or 4 skills and an elite.
One can only hope.

Ambience
One of things Arenanet art has been distinguished by it's sophisticated development of ambience. In addition, from Prophecies to Factions they took a huge step in refining their skill, no mean feat when you consider the relatively limited dynamic range of computer displays and the pragmatic need for players to see enough and the right things. I can't tell from the video, but I hope Nightfall takes another extraordinary step.

Touch Rangers don't use bows.
However, it did look like when a bowed Ranger attempts to cast a spell, so you might be right about the fact that he's mix professions casting.

The one thing i remember really getting excited about with the factions cinematic was not the new professions, which at that point i wasn't all that thrilled about how they looked, but rather the new armors for the core professions and the new weapons. With this cinematic, there weren't really any new weapons that i could see(i know they probably didn't add them yet but that still means i haven't seen them) and only the dervish and paragon were shown, so that doesn't help me much with wanted to see new armor.
I know things will be released in due time, they always are, I guess i'm just going to have to wait to pass judgement until I get to see the things i want to see and then I'll evaluate.
Some of the scenery was pretty nice though, but i wouldn't expect anything less from Guildwars, even with my old outdated graphics card, things always look great.

Human touches don't use bows. Who knows what NPC would use?
